Pelvic misalignment
Pelvic misalignment affects the sacroiliac joints, which are joints without a disc. The therapist will diagnose the injury using various palpation techniques. This type of subluxation usually appears after major exertion or repetitive movements that stress one of the two sacroiliac joints. The injury generally appears on one side only.
Chiropractic Treatment
To unlock the pelvic subluxation, the chiropractor uses two different techniques depending on the severity of the misalignment and the patient's physical condition:
- The sacroiliac adjustment using the Drop technique (see video)
- Active mobilization: the therapist applies pressure points along the blocked sacroiliac joint while asking the patient, lying face down, to perform certain movements: leg abduction-adduction, internal and external hip rotation, and moving one leg over the other.
Treatment and Session Frequency: 2 to 4 sessions scheduled one week apart from each other.
